Northwest Property Owners Association Releases Candidate Evaluations

COEUR d’ALENE – The Northwest Property Owners Association has evaluated candidates for the upcoming May 20 primary elections, and released the results on Thursday.

According to a press release, candidate evaluations were done using the criteria set forth in the NWPOA Mission Statement. The NWPOA Board and Election Committee collectively spent hundreds of hours researching and examining candidates.

Some candidates participated by completing a one-hour NWPOA candidate survey and submitting a one-page bio and resume to aid the rating effort. In addition, it reviewed candidate websites, news articles, member input, candidate interviews, public forums, and voting records, all of which were taken into account, the release stated.

“NWPOA was formed in an effort to combat the trampling of our property and privacy rights by elected officials,” the release said. “From our inception, we understood that it was critical for NWPOA to involve itself in the election process.”

NWPOA said it quizzed each candidate on a list of its top concerns, and results are ratings for each (they are not endorsements).

The NWPOA Board of Directors includes Jennifer Locke, Gary Mitchell, Carla Woempner, Jeff Tyler, and Kristi Cochrane.

The top-rated candidate in each of the races is listed below:

RLCID-PAC Announces Primary Candidate Endorsements

The following is excerpted from the Republican Liberty Caucus of Idaho website.

April 25, 2014 Republican Liberty Caucus of Idaho (RLCID) Releases First Round of 2014 Endorsements

RLCID-PAC, the candidate endorsement arm of the Republican Liberty Caucus of Idaho, today announced their first round of endorsements for the 2014 campaign cycle after the board of directors exhaustively spent over two weeks reviewing comprehensive candidate questionnaires, incumbent voting records, and recorded interviews and forums. Under consideration were candidates for statewide constitutional offices and state legislative seats.

RLCID-PAC is excited to be supporting such a strong group of pro-liberty, pro-business, limited-government candidates in the 2014 election cycle. These candidates worked very hard to earn the RLCID-PAC endorsement and we look forward to supporting and working with these candidates in the coming weeks. We thank all of the candidates who submitted a candidate questionnaire for consideration of endorsement.

As a final step in securing the RLCID-PAC endorsement, each candidate was required to sign the RLC Liberty Compact.

The Liberty Compact

I pledge to the citizens of this state, and to the American people, that as their elected representative I will work to restore liberty, not restrict it; shrink government, not expand it; reduce taxes, not raise them; abolish programs, not create them; promote the freedom and independence of citizens, not the interference of government in their lives; and observe the limited, enumerated powers of our Constitution, not ignore them.

Letter to the Editor: Senator Nonini’s assistance to our family in a time of crisis and need was invaluable

I received this letter that was submitted to the editor of the Coeur d’Alene Press from a couple that I was able to assist with some insurance issues.

April 30, 2014

My husband and I had a disagreement with our insurance agent and we were faced with a crises. We filed a complaint with the Idaho Department of Insurance in Boise, Idaho. Knowing that we were located in Coeur d Alene, the agent at the Department of Insurance in Boise recommended calling Bob Nonini, he is an “amazing Senator for the people.” So I did call our Senator, Bob Nonini. His wife Cathyanne answered the phone; Bob Nonini talked to me for an hour and a half from his home about our health insurance issue.

I am writing to document who Bob Nonini is and to thank him. More imperative than that, Bob Nonini is an individual who has taken the time, effort and patience to take care of the people in our community.

Thank you Bob.

Kristin and Bob Stueve
Coeur d Alene

Here is what Idaho Senate Leadership says about Bob

“Senator Bob Nonini has been an effective lawmaker throughout his legislative career. As a solid conservative, Bob has represented the people of his district with distinction. We are fortunate to have Bob in the legislature and urge his constituents to return him to the Idaho State Senate!”
~ Senator Brent Hill, Senate Pro-Tem

“Bob Nonini’s passion for conservative principles and issues is well known in Idaho’s Capitol. Although Bob is new to the Senate after having served 8 years in the House, Senator Nonini’s effective approach this year helped the Idaho Senate in immeasurable ways. I look forward to that continued association. I’ve learned to count on Bob, and I believe Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene should too.”
~ Senator Bart Davis, Senate Majority Leader

“I am supporting Senator Nonini because he represents his constituents with passion and integrity!”
~ Senator Chuck Winder, Senate Assistant Majority Leader
